This Is The Most Popular Trim Level Of The GMC Sierra - GM Authority

The GMC Sierra is famous for being GM’s most Professional Grade pickup truck. The vehicle is offered in several different body styles (cab and bed configurations), powertrain combinations, and trim levels, with the range-topping Sierra Denali probably being the most well-known variant. But it’s not the most popular. Rather, the SLT trim level has traditionally been the best-selling Sierra 1500 trim level.

The offroad-oriented AT4 is a new trim for the all-new Sierra 1500

In fact, the Sierra SLT has historically accounted for about 40 percent of all half-ton GMC Sierra sales volume, GMC’s Fred Ligouri told us on the sidelines of the New York International Auto Show. The Sierra Denali has typically been the second most-popular trim, accounting for about 30 percent of all Sierra 1500 sales mix. The remaining 30 percent were made up of the remaining trim levels – the Sierra Base and the SLT.

However, all that might change with the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra, which sees the introduction of two new trim levels: Sierra Elevation and Sierra AT4. The two new trims expand the quantity of GMC Sierra trim levels from four to six.

In fact, both of the new trim levels will likely reduce the penetration of the SLT trim level. Interestingly, the AT4 is based on the SLT equipment group while Elevation is based on the SLE trim.
