Ice Hockey: Guelph's two goals help South Brunswick reach GMC Cup final - NJ.com

Whenever South Brunswick has been in a tight spot all season, Justin Guelph has been there to provide the spark and he did so once again on Wednesday.

Just second goal of the game and 29th of the season broke a 3-3 tie and second-seeded South Brunswick held on for a 4-3 win over third-seeded Monroe in the semifinal round of the GMC Cup playoffs.

The win comes just a week after South Brunswick fell to Monroe, 10-0, and sends the team into Saturday's final, where it will take on top-seeded St. Joseph (Met.).

Joseph Inzano opened the scoring early in the second period and Guelph doubled the lead with a power-play goal minutes later. Harin Ponna then made it a 3-0 game with 5:40 to go in the frame.

Monroe got back even thanks to a natural hat trick from Matthew Skobelev. Two of those goals came on the power play and the second tied the game with 12:10 to go in the third.

Clayon Romanok was perfect in goal for the Vikings after that and made 34 saves in the win. Inzano, Ronit Thummaluru and Kayden Howe all had assists.

Gleb Veremyev and Samuel Fishteyn assisted on Skobelev's first power-play goal. Marino Lupo turned aside 23 shots in goal.
