2. J.P. Stevens (6-1) – The Hawks have scored Red Division victories over Monroe, East Brunswick and South Brunswick, as well as wins over Milburn, Immaculata and Middlesex. A setback to Hanover Park is J.P. Stevens’ lone blemish, so far.

3. East Brunswick (6-2) – The Bears rebounded nicely from season-opening losses to Moorestown Friends and J.P. Stevens, respectively, and have reeled off six straight victories, including conference wins over Perth Amboy, Old Bridge and Woodbridge, as well as the championship of the Brunswick Classic Holiday Tournament.

4. Edison (4-3) – The Eagles have had no trouble against GMC foes, scoring triumphs over Sayreville, Colonia, New Brunswick and Woodbridge, but have yet to beat a non-conference opponent, with losses to Mendham, Somerset County standout Watchung Hills and Union County power Westfield. Edison faces a challenging week ahead, including games against No. 8 North Brunswick and No. 1 Bishop Ahr.

5. Middlesex (7-1) – The Blue Jays lone loss came to No. 2 JP Stevens, while they’ve scored wins over Piscataway, South Plainfield, South River, Highland Park, Manville, Dunellen and Metuchen, headed into Monday’s Blue Division showdown with Carteret.

6. Piscataway (4-4) – Graduation losses seem to have taken their toll on the Chiefs a season after they finished 22-5. Still, Piscataway’s losses have all been to quality teams, in Middlesex, Red Bank Catholic, Rutgers Prep and Bridgewater-Raritan, but they also lack an impressive win, having beaten Perth Amboy, Old Bridge, Mount St. Dominic and South Brunswick, teams with a 6-21 combined record. The Chiefs face Monroe, East Brunswick and J.P. Stevens in their next three outings, with a chance to prove they’re legitimate contenders.

7. Sayreville (3-4) – The Bombers have had an uneven start, but have done it playing an uber-competitive schedule. Sayreville fell to Edison, Ewing, Donovan Catholic and Bishop Ahr, while scoring wins over North Brunswick, South Plainfield and Point Pleasant Boro.

8. North Brunswick (4-3) – The Raiders’ losses have all come to quality teams in Sayreville, East Brunswick and Matawan. North Brunswick counts Woodbridge, JFK-Iselin, South Brunswick and New Brunswick as its victims, so far, but still lack a high-quality victory. Big week on tap for the Raiders, with games scheduled against a trio of Top 10 teams in No. 4 Edison, No. 10 South Plainfield and top-ranked Bishop Ahr.

9. Carteret (7-1) – The Ramblers are rolling, having beaten Metuchen, Spotswood, JFK, Colonia, Woodbridge, South Amboy and Highland Park, with the lone loss coming to Scotch Plains-Fanwood. First place in the Blue Division was on the line as Carteret faced No. 5 Middlesex on Monday.

10. South Plainfield (3-4) – The Tigers fell victim to a brutally tough early slate of games, opening their season with losses to Middlesex, Bishop Ahr and Sayreville, but have won three of four since, topping Rahway, Colonia and New Brunswick, while falling to North Hunterdon in the A.L. Johnson holiday tournament final.
