A GP who took legal action to try to stop the General Medical Council releasing an expert’s report to a patient who planned to sue him has lost his case in the Court of Appeal, after initially winning in the High Court.1
The patient, who has bladder cancer, complained to the GMC that the GP’s treatment of him led to a year’s avoidable delay in his diagnosis. Both patient and doctor have been made anonymous in the court judgments to protect their identities.
