Middlesex 10, Carteret 3: Jarret May went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to pace a 10-hit attack as the Blue Jays (3-1) completed a series sweep of the Ramblers (1-2) while extending their winning streak to three games.

Jared Venutolo and Ryan Vollmer each went 2-for-3 with a combined three RBI. They accounted for four of Middlesex’s 10 hits.

Winning pitcher Pat Kannaley, the hard-luck loser in a 1-0 season-opening loss to Union, hurled five and two thirds innings for the win. He allowed three earned runs on three hits. Kannaley struck out six and did not issue a walk in an economical 70-pitch effort.

The Blue Jays scored five times in the second to erase a 2-1 deficit. They have trailed in all three of their victories.

Gian Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Carteret, whose other hit came off the bat of Joshua Chambers.

Piscataway 7, Spotswood 5: The Chiefs (3-1) rallied for five runs in the home sixth to erase a 5-2 deficit while winning for the second time this season in their final at-bat.

After Matt Peterson’s RBI single snapped a 5-5 tie, Jordan Brown capped the sixth-inning rally with a run-scoring single to add an insurance run.

Peterson and Brown went a combined 4-for-7 from the plate with two hits apiece. Teammates Chris Corvil and Chris Lowry each had a hit and a run scored. Jordin Martell (1-for-3 with an RBI), Parris Washington (two walks and a run) and James Ingram (run) also contributed to the victory.

Evan Okamoto, who pitched a scoreless seventh, earned the save with one inning of relief. He retired the game’s final batter, who represented the tying run at the plate.

Mike Izzo went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Chargers, who were outhit 7-5. His solo blast gave Spotswood a 5-2 lead in the fifth.

Izzo’s RBI single and Matt Vento’s sacrifice fly gave Spotswood a short-lived 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Chiefs responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame as Martell delivered a fielder’s choice groundout and Ingram crossed on a passed ball.

Derek Buhl and Chance Fee had the only other hits for Spotswood, which scored three earned runs off three opposing pitchers including starter Matt Hanzich (five innings) and reliever Frank Cocozza.

Spotswood, which rallied for a 7-5 comeback win over J.P. Stevens and a 3-2 extra-inning win over Union, fell to 2-1.

The Chargers stranded eight runners.

Woodbridge 11, Henry Hudson 1: Winning pitcher Jacob Kreusch went the route, striking out seven and scattering five hits in a game shortened to five innings via the mercy rule.

Mike Medvetz, who has hit safely in five games, remained torrid at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Three-sport athlete Nick Nyers, the football program’s career record holder in tackles and a reigning conference tournament heavyweight champion wrestler, recorded his first varsity base hit, as did teammate Joseph Saez.

Woodbridge scored three runs in the home first to erase a 1-0 deficit. The Barrons tacked on six more runs in the second and invoked the mercy rule with two runs in the fifth.

Andrew Galvach, Joe Muccilli, Tom O’Halloran, Nyers and Saez each delivered an RBI.

Kreusch, who walked four batters, threw 82 pitches to help the Barrons (4-1) win their third straight.

Manville 10, Timothy Christian 0: The Tigers (0-2) were outhit 10-2 as they endured their second mercy-rule defeat.

Winning pitcher John Sharbaugh threw a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts. Batterymate Blair Sauerhoefer wnet 3-for-3.
