Medical faculty association of government medical college (GMC) Srinagar has called for fast tracking the filling up of entry level posts in the medical college and of faculty promotions in its executive committee meeting held at Srinagar on Monday.
Various issues pertaining to faculty of GMC Srinagar were discussed and deliberated on in two hour long meeting of executive body of MFA (GMC) with principal secretary health and medical education department Dr Pawan Kotwal. The members of the meeting especially focused on the depleted faculty positions at the medical college and expressed concern over the lack of standard operating procedure in recommending of OPG (own pay and grade) appointments to government.
“MFA suggested expediting the recruitment at entry level, reversion of deputations of faculty members and holding of DPC at regular specified intervals”, a press note issued by MFA said, requesting the government to hold DPC promotion of such faculty members on war footing.
A memorandum was also prepared to pursue that lecturers and associate professors be placed in pay band 3 and 4 respectively. It urged the government to enhance the grade pay of professors to 10,000 and re-designate them after 5 years as senior professors or director-professors as is a norm in MAMC, LHMC in Delhi.
MFA was represented by Prof Sajjad Qazi president, Prof Mufti Mahmood general secretary, Prof Tariq Qureshi, Dr Sheikh Imran treasurer and Dr Sheikh Bilal additional secretary HME and Naseer Ahmed.
