Here’s What Inspired The GMC Elevation Name - GM Authority

2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Crew Cab - June 2019 - Interior 002

Recently, we flew to Montreal to drive the 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation and its all-new turbocharged 2.7-liter L3B I4 engine as well as the new GMC Canyon Elevation. Somewhere along the line, we started to wonder where that Elevation name comes from, so we spoke with GMC to get a better understanding of the inspiration behind the GMC Elevation name.

“Our inspiration really came from Denali. Since Denali is our top-trim level, and we see Elevation as the gateway to the GMC brand, we felt it was fitting to have a distinct connection between entry level models and top-shelf models at GMC,” Mark Alger, National Marketing Manager at GMC Canada, told us. “It’s all about mountains, climbing, adventure, the outdoors. That’s what Elevation means to us, this connection with Denali.”

That makes sense – as GMC Elevation edition models serve as the in-between point for the customer as he or she “elevates” from the base model to the range-topping Denali during the lifecycle.

To note, the the 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation and Canyon Elevation are mostly aesthetics packages derived from the SLE trim level of each truck that add a monochromatic style and blacked-out body inserts and wheels to give the vehicle a nice bold look.
