Most GMC Sierra HD Buyers Opt For Denali Trim With Duramax V-8 Engine - GM Authority

Here’s an interesting fact: the Denali trim is the most popular model of the GMC Sierra HD.

Over 50 percent of GMC Sierra HD buyers choose the range-topping Denali trim, and more than 90 percent of those trucks are equipped with the Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 engine, GMC’s Fred Ligouri told GM Authority.

Earlier this month, GMC unveiled the all-new, 2020 Sierra HD. The range-topping 2020 Sierra Denali HD model stole the debut spotlight in an impressive clip. New from the ground up, the 2020 Sierra HD delivers advancements in every category, including comfort, capability, ease of use, and technology.

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD will be offered in five trims: base, SLE, SLT, the new AT4, and Denali. The lineup will include 2500HD and 3500HD capability variants, Regular, Double Cab and Crew Cab cab styles, as well as Standard and Long cargo boxes. In addition, two chassis cab frame lengths will be offered.

Under the hood is a choice of two engines: a 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and the familiar 6.6L V8 L5P turbo-diesel Duramax, which is rated at 445 horses and 910 pound-feet of torque. The gasoline V8 will be paired with GM’s 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission, while Duramax-powered models will receive an Allison-branded 10-speed automatic.

Notable advancements of the all-new models include:

• Enhanced ProGrade Trailering system with an available 15 camera views
• Available smart trailer system that integrates the iN-Command control system from ASA Electronics and grants the ability to monitor and control select functions of compatibly equipped trailers through the myGMC app
• Available 15-inch-diagonal head-up display
• Available Rear Camera Mirror
• Available MultiPro tailgate
• Towing capacity up to 35,500 pounds
