PISCATAWAY 42, BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN 14
The undefeated Chiefs used a balanced running attack to race out to a 35-0 halftime lead on the way to extending their winning streak to nine games while advancing to the North 2 Group V semifinals.
Piscataway (9-0) will host Ridge in the next round on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Juwon Jackson rushed 11 times for 94 yards and two scores, while backfield mate Khristian Hernandez carried nine times for 90 yards and a score. Nasir Best contributed 89 rushing yards and one touchdown on five carries to the win.
The Panthers, who fell 47-0 to Piscataway when the teams met in the regular season earlier this year, were outgained 419 to 148 in total yards from scrimmage.
Piscataway owned a 357 to 22 advantage in first-half yards from scrimmage. The Chiefs scored on all but one of their possessions in the opening half. Piscataway scored on drives of 92, 88 and 75 yards.
Quarterback Joseph Hatcher completed 3 of 6 passes for 109 yards including a 76-yard scoring strike to Lord Jones.
Austin Mosier, Jordin Martell, David Greene and Andre Felton comprised Piscataway’s formidable defensive front , which limited the opposition to one first down in the opening half.
Only one of the Panthers’ second-half touchdowns came against the first-string defense.
Linebacker Nick Recine also had a spectacular all-around game for the Chiefs, who limited Brdigewater-Raritan to 45 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Piscataway finished with 310 yards on the ground.
HILLSIDE 39, SOUTH RIVER 0
Defending sectional champion Hillside amassed 534 total yards from scrimmage in a first-round Central Group II playoff win over the Rams.
South River quarterback Michael DeSantis, who enjoyed a spectacular career, was limited to 3 of 7 passing for 13 yards and to 38 rushing yards on nine carries.
Bill Drum rushed 17 times for 62 yards for South River, which will win the Gold Division title if Middlesex defeats Dunellen on Thanksgiving eve.
Hillside, which built a 26-0 lead at halftime, amassed 329 yards on the ground and 205 yards through the air.
EDISON 14, SOUTH BRUNSWICK 7
