Two people are seriously injured after a crash in Putnam on Saturday afternoon.
Police said a Chevy truck was traveling east on Route 44 near Tucker Hill Road while a GMC truck was traveling west around 2:18 p.m.
Officers believe the Chevy truck crossed over the double yellow line and hit the GMC truck before coming to an uncontrolled final rest blocking both the east and westbound lanes. The GMC truck came to an uncontrolled final rest off the right shoulder of the westbound lane.
Both drivers were transported to UMass Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Route 44 near Tucker Hill Road was closed, but has since reopened.
The accident is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Troop D at (860) 779-4900.
