2019 GMC Sierra Crew Cab vs. 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Comparison

The 2019 GMC Sierra is all new this year, offering an expanded line of new engines, transmissions and trims, as well as more capabilities and unique features like a choice between a power-operated or multi-configurable tailgate and a rearview camera mirror. GMC uses a two-piece bed stamping that allows for a wider bed floor, giving the Sierra best-in-class volume figures. The bed floor is also stronger than before. The Ram is also new for 2019, with handsome styling, an impressive number of trims and features, and improved towing and payload numbers. The much-loved diesel engine has been delayed, but a mild hybrid is available. Dubbed eTorque, the system adds up to 90 lb-ft additional launch torque to the V6 and 130 lb-ft to the Hemi V8. Ram’s eTorque system is standard on the V6 and optional on the V8.

GMC Sierra Advantages

In crew cab form, the Sierra offers better max towing and payload numbers and a bigger bed. There are numerous trim choices including the off-road-ready AT4 and Elevation, as well as the ultra-plush Denali. The Sierra offers more engine options and more horsepower, as well as more headroom and legroom both front and rear. Clever features like a power rear tailgate or multi-configurable tailgate set the Sierra apart from its competitors.

Ram 1500 Advantages

Final Recommendation

If you’re looking for a crew cab with higher towing, payload and horsepower, and best-in-class bed volume, the 2019 GMC Sierra is your truck. However, if you can get by with a bit less, the Ram 1500 is an attractive prospect. It offers a smoother ride with its optional air suspension, and a more refined interior. We’re especially fond of the big 12-inch touch screen, but sad about the delay of the diesel engine’s availability. Both trucks offer tons of clever storage solutions, as well as unique features throughout.
