North Brunswick 8, South River 7: Dylan Glassman scored on a two-out error in the top of the eighth inning as North Brunswick sent the hard-luck Rams (0-6) to a third consecutive one-run loss and their fourth such defeat of the season.

Conversely, the streaking Raiders (5-3) have won three of their last four – all by a single run – and have four one-run victories on the year.

South River scored three times in the home fifth to erase a two-run deficit and build a 5-4 lead. After the Rams extended their cushion to 6-4 in the ensuing inning, North Brunswick plated three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-6 advantage on Danny Reardon’s RBI double with two strikes and two away. South River scored in the home seventh to force extra innings.

Christian Petrillo went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. The winning run crossed on an error during his at-bat. Teammate Caleb Rodriguez went 3-for-5 and scored twice. Glassman finished 2-for-2 with two triples. Reardon went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Andrew Tan earned the win with three innings of relief and helped his own cause with a hit and three RBI.

Michael DeSantis went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored for South River. Billy Drum singled, doubled and plated a run in a losing effort.

The teams combined for 22 hits and nine walks.
