Abingdon-based auto dealership Boyle Buick GMC has named Chris Boyle dealer principal and president.
Boyle began working at the dealership as a young boy, washing cars and sweeping the floors. It wasn’t long before Chris started doing light mechanical work and spent his summers in high school learning the parts business.
Upon graduating high school, he worked in the accounting office, learning all about the financial side of the business. He took over as director of service body and parts and turned it into an award-winning operation.
He is a graduate of the General Motors University of Automotive Management and is an ASE certified service consultant and manager. He is also a graduate of The John Carroll School.
Active in the automotive field, Boyle is past president of The Maryland GM Service and Parts Managers Club and past co-chair of the National General Motors Dealer Fixed Operations Board.

Bel Air
Education:
General Motors University of Automotive Management. Also a proud graduate of The John Carroll School.
How has wearing different hats in your career at the dealership affected the way you manage employees?
Since I have worked in just about every capacity in the dealership, I tend to manage with empathy. I wouldn’t ask the dealership’s employees to do something that I haven’t already done myself.
If you had not chosen the automotive business as a profession, what profession would you choose and why?
If I wasn’t working in the automotive business, I would have worked in accounting. I love numbers.
Recent vacation:
My most recent vacation was to the Outer Banks in North Carolina with my kids and grandkids. Quality family time is always important.
When I want to relax, I …:
The best ways for me to relax are to golf, go camping and visit someplace with warm weather.
Favorite music:
Country music is what I like to listen to, especially Garth Brooks.
Favorite quotation:
“Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” — Bil Keane, creator of “The Family Circus” cartoon.
