A Gage County man was shot by a U.S. Marshal while being served an arrest warrant in central Lincoln Friday night, police say.
Around 8 p.m., two Lincoln Police officers and a U.S. Marshal attempted to serve Thomas Sailors, 25, a felony arrest warrant for possession and attempted distribution of narcotics issued in Gage County, according to a release.
Sailors was reached in a GMC Yukon at an apartment building parking lot at the 1600 block of Prospect Street, the release said.
Police say Sailors struck at least four cars, including one driven by the U.S. Marshal and officers. He also damaged a building when he backed into it.
The U.S. Marshal then fired shots into the GMC Yukon, wounding Sailors, police say.
Officers chased Sailors by car until 8:20 p.m., the release said. Sailors was taken to Bryan West Campus by 8:29 p.m. and was being treated for gunshot wounds.
Capt. Ryan Dale on Friday night said the wounds aren't life-threatening. Dale did not confirm whether or not Sailors was armed.
No one else was injured, according to the release.
The Lincoln Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office will lead the investigation of the officer-involved shooting, the release said. Additionally, internal reviews by LPD and the U.S. Marshal's Service will be conducted.
