Late Christmas Day Accident Sends Three To Hospital

A two vehicle accident occurred late afternoon on Christmas Day at the intersection of Red Hill Road and Tram Road in Duplin County. Three people were taken to Vidant Duplin Hospital following the two vehicle crash involving a Ford Explore and GMC Sierra pickup truck. Firefighters from Pleasant Grove Fire Department and Oak Wolfe Fire Department were dispatched to the scene along with several EMS and medical responder units from Duplin County. North Carolina Highway Patrol in Duplin County are investigating the accident. Officials said the Ford Explorer was heading South on Red Hill Road and the GMC truck was heading East on Tram Road when the accident occurred. The female driver in the Ford Explore along with the man and his wife in the GMC truck were the only ones involved in the accident. Firefighters had to use tools to cut away a part of the windshield in order to free the woman in the truck. The intersection was closed to traffic while law enforcement investigated the scene.
