Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra Recalled Again - ConsumerReports.org

Vehicles Recalled
148,055 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks from the 2019 model year.

The problem: A previous recall (19V889) involved a software error that arises when owners use the General Motors My Brand app to start the vehicle remotely. This software error could cause the vehicle’s electronic stability control and antilock brake system lamps to illuminate. The driver might not be aware that the ESC and ABS were not functioning.

The fix: General Motors will notify owners, and Chevrolet and GMC dealers will install updated software, free of charge.

How to contact the manufacturer: GM says the recall is expected to begin Feb. 10, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 888-988-7267. GM’s number for this recall is N192268091.

NHTSA campaign number: 20V055.

Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: NHTSA’s website will tell you whether your vehicle has any open recalls that need to be addressed.

If you plug your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into NHTSA’s website and a recall doesn’t appear, it means your vehicle doesn’t currently have any open recalls. Because automakers issue recalls often, and for many older vehicles, we recommend checking back regularly to see whether your vehicle has had a recall issued.
