GMC Canyon sales decreased nearly 12 percent to 7,437 units during the third quarter of 2019. The decline is rather disappointing after a stout performance in Q2 2019, which set a second-quarter sales record for the nameplate. So, in what could potentially be a way to reverse the downward trend in the fourth quarter, a new GMC Canyon discount drops the price of select 2019 models by 14 percent during the month of November 2019.
Similar to the offer in September and in October, this GMC rebate is only available for current eligible non-GM owners and lessees. However, this incentive is a bit more lucrative than those discounts, which were only 12 percent.
Incentives
The nationwide GMC Canyon discount offer for the midsize pickup truck during the month of November 2019 is a 14-percent reduction of the MSRP. The offer is applicable to most models for current eligible non-GM owners/lessees. GMC provides the following example of the discount when applied to a 2019 Canyon Denali 4WD Crew Cab:
- $1,859 price reduction + $4,546 purchase allowance = $6,405 below MSRP on select models for current GM owners who finance with GM Financial.
When the GMC Canyon discount is applied to a specific 2019 Denali 4WD Crew Cab model with an MSRP of $45,750, the starting price is reduced to $39,345. Discounts on other models will vary.
Shoppers should note that the 14-percent GMC Canyon discount is only available for current non-GM owners, the exact opposite of the Canyon discount offered in July, which was only available for current GM owners. The circumstance might not sit well with some loyal owners.
For reference, the 2019 GMC Canyon price for each trim level in the applicable Crew Cab configuration, including the $1,095 destination charge, are as follows:
- Canyon base – $28,695
- SLE – $31,995
- SLT – $36,895
- All Terrain – $38,895

About GMC Canyon
The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck marketed by GM's GMC brand. It is currently GMC's smallest pickup truck, slotting under the full-size GMC Sierra. The current model was introduced in 2015 and represents the second generation of the Canyon nameplate. It rides on the GMT-31XX platform shared with the Chevy Colorado, as well as the international-market Chevrolet Colorado/S10 and Chevrolet Trailblazer. As of September 2018, the GMC Canyon is offered only in the United States and Canada; it is not offered in the two other markets in which GMC does business - Mexico and the Middle East.
The 2018 GMC Canyon represents the fourth model year of the second-generation Canyon. The 2019 GMC Canyon represents the fifth model year of the second-generation Canyon. The vehicle sees new exterior colors and a new set of bright silver 17-inch wheels on the SLE model. Additionally, the 2019 Canyon gets new set of infotainment systems that represent the third generation of GMC infotainment systems, a second in-cabin microphone for the front passenger, a high-definition Rear Vision Camera on some models, UltraSonic Rear Park Assist, a heated steering wheel on SLT and All Terrain models, and 6-way power driver seat on some models. There's also a rearrangement of USB ports in the front and back.
A midcycle refresh for the 2020 model year is expected to bring revised front and rear styling along with interior and powertrain updates. There's also the expected introduction of the Canyon AT4 to replace the Canyon All Terrain. The GMC Canyon is built at the GM Wentzville factory in Missouri operated by GM USA.
