GMC football Top 10 rankings, division standings, Week 7 results, Week 8 schedule - My Central Jersey

Following are MyCentralJersey.com and the Home News Tribune's Greater Middlesex Conference high school football Top 10 rankings entering Week 8 action.

Division standings, Week 7 results and the Week 8 schedule can be found beneath the Top 10 rankings.

1. Woodbridge (7-0): Ali Lee Jr. rushed 48 times for 218 yards to help the Barrons erase a 13-point halftime deficit en route to a 21-20 comeback victory over New Brunswick as they opened the year with seven consecutive victories for the first time since 1997.

2. St. Joseph (7-1): After top playmaker K-Shawn Schulters left the game in the third quarter with a foot injury, Martin Greene and Thomas Fehl each intercepted a pass and combined for 95 receiving yards to set up a pair of touchdowns as the Falcons extended their winning streak to seven games with a 21-14 comeback victory over Linden.

3. North Brunswick (7-1): Dahvey Hicks scored on a 64-yard touchdown run and intercepted a pass – all in the final minute – to lead the Raiders to a 35-28 victory over Hunterdon Central as North Brunswick won its sixth straight contest.

4. Old Bridge (7-0): Owen Haughney's 3-yard touchdown run with under two minutes left capped a frenetic fourth-quarter rally as the Knights, who have won five games by a total of 12 points this season, erased an 11-point deficit for a dramatic 33-32 comeback victory over Franklin.

5. Piscataway (6-2): Kristopher Hernandez recorded three interceptions from his defensive back position and threw a touchdown pass from his quarterback position to lead the Chiefs to a 22-7 victory over Elizabeth as Piscataway won its second straight.

6. South Brunswick (5-3): Jai Patel, one of the state's best placekickers, converted a 40-yard field goal in the beginning of the fourth quarter and the Vikings made a goal-line stand in the final two minutes to preserve a 10-7 victory over Sayreville.

7. Sayreville (2-5): Four of the Bombers' losses have come to opponents - North Brunswick, Piscataway, Old Bridge and South Brunswick - ranked ahead of them. The latter of that quartet handed Sayreville a 10-7 loss on Friday night. The Bombers' wins are a 7-0 blanking of New Brunswick and a 9-6 win over Edison.

8. East Brunswick (3-4): A week after beating New Brunswick, the Bears endured a 42-7 loss to Hillsborough, whose only defeats are to state-ranked Phillipsburg and Ridge.

9. New Brunswick (0-8): The Zebras endured their third straight heartbreaking defeat, squandering a 13-point lead in a 21-20 loss to Woodbridge. New Brunswick's last three losses - to Sayreville, East Brunswick and the Barrons - have come by a combined 11 points. New Brunswick forfeited four wins, including a victory over Piscataway, for using an ineligible player in each of those contests.

10. Middlesex (8-0): Alex Roque rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries as the Blue Jays extended their regular-season winning streak, which dates back to last year, to 14 games.
