GM Confirms Production Numbers of 2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro - GM Authority

The GMC Sierra, along with its Chevrolet Silverado stablemate, received a total overhaul for the 2019 model year. While there were many prominent changes and upgrades made to these trucks, one of the most interesting features has to be the available CarbonPro box on the 2019 Sierra.

The CarbonPro box, made of carbon fiber composite material, not only reduces the weight of the Sierra by 59 pounds when equipped, but also offers best-in-class scratch, dent and corrosion resistance, as carbon fiber cannot rust.

The caveat to all of this, however, is that it has only been available as part of the CarbonPro Edition package that starts at $10,925. Still, GM Authority has reported that these special trucks began arriving on dealer lots this summer.

We also received confirmation on just how many examples of the GMC Sierra CarbonPro have been produced for the 2019 model year. In a statement to GM Authority, GMC director of communications Michelle Malcho was quoted as saying “I have confirmed that we did build almost 500 2019 CarbonPro units, both Denali and AT4.”

For perspective, GMC typically sells about 200,000 Sierras per year. With a little less than 500 units produced, this makes the 2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro, in either AT4 or Denali trim, one of the rarest pickup trucks ever produced by General Motors.

Fortunately for those who are less interested in bragging rights and more interested in accessibility and functionality, General Motors has confirmed that the CarbonPro technology is slated to carry on in the Sierra for the 2020 model year.
