DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING
Yes, it’s true that North Brunswick is ranked No. 15 in the NJ.com Top 20 and was favored to beat 0-2 Sayreville. Still, when a team finally beats an adversary for the first time after 21 straight failures, the slump-snapping accomplishment has to be considered a surprise. North Brunswick did it with a 22-7 victory Friday to rebound from a 22-20 loss last week to St. Joseph (Met). Demi Jenkins returned a punt for a TD and Demonte Blount scored on a 23-yard run to stake the Raiders to a 14-0 halftime lead. Chris Arnold added a TD runin the second half.

After almost upsetting Old Bridge on Sept. 6 (a 17-14 loss), East Brunswick defeated Monroe, 20-14, Friday night to improve to 1-1.
