WEYMOUTH, Mass. - A gas station attendant was struck and injured when he was hit by an SUV at a Mobil station on Main Street Monday, police said.
Police said the driver of an SUV hit the 64-year-old employee around 8 p.m. as he was crossing between the gas pumps at the full-service station on Route 18 in Weymouth.
Surveillance video shows the moment he was knocked over by the vehicle as people inside rushed to help. A police officer working a detail near the gas station also ran to help. Weymouth Police said the victim was rushed to South Shore Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene, police said, and the vehicle was seen behind yellow police tape at the crash scene.
Investigators remained on scene for a few hours to speak to multiple witnesses and officers from the crash analysis and reconstruction team returned Tuesday morning as the investigation continued.
