Last week the complete pricing breakdown for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD was published by General Motors. Now the automaker has released pricing for its slightly more luxurious stablemate, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD, which still start at $37,195 for a Regular Cab base model.
While the Silverado HD actually went down in price compared to the outgoing model, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD has gotten more expensive in certain trim levels. Some equivalent SLE trim level trucks are a couple thousand dollars less than before, but the Denali has spiked in price by a whopping $7,000.
This price difference is mostly due to the fact that the Denali can longer be ordered with two-wheel drive, however even without the price of four-wheel drive factored in, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD Denali is still a few thousands dollars more expensive than before.
The $37,195 price tag on the 2020 GMC Sierra HD is for the reintroduced Regular Cab base model. This can be somewhat confusing, as the $38,200 starting price of the 2019 GMC Sierra HD is for a Double Cab model, as the Regular Cab was not offered at the time. For comparison’s sake, the base 2020 Sierra 2500 HD Double Cab is essentially the same price as a comparable 2019 model, going up by $100.
Just like with the Chevy, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD comes standard with a 6.6-liter L8T V8, which is good for 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. GM’s improved 6.6-liter L5P Duramax diesel V8 is also on the table. The V8 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel is mated to an Allison-branded 10-speed automatic.
GM began shipping the 2020 GMC Sierra HD to dealerships on Monday. All versions of the truck are built at the automaker’s Flint Assembly plant in Michigan alongside the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.
