South River 11, East Brunswick Tech 1: Winning pitcher Michael DeSantis allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out six over five innings for the Rams (4-6), who have won three of their last four.
Nick Razzano went 3-for-4 with three RBI to pace South River, which outhit the Tigers 10-4. Chris Barberio, Vincent Lepore and DeSantis each contributed an RBI to the victory.
South River rallied for six runs in the fifth to build upon its 4-1 lead. Jake Ramos singled twice and plated a run for the Rams.
Joe Moye singled and scored a run for East Brunswick Tech, while teammate Chris Rosa had the Tigers’ lone RBI.
East Brunswick Tech (5-4) has dropped two straight games.
South Plainfield 12, Perth Amboy 2: The Tigers jumped all over Perth Amboy’s starting pitcher, touching him for four runs in the first inning before he could record a second out.
Chris Shine highlighted the rally with a two-run single. South Plainfield benefited from a pair of bases-loaded walks.
Justin Jones earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts over five innings. Ryan Massett hurled one inning of relief for South Plainfield.
The Tigers scored four times in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule. Chris Born, TJ Massaro and Mike Marrero each had an RBI during the outburst.
Jordan Hamberg, Born and Massaro had multiple-hit games for the Tigers (8-4), who have won three in a row.
During its streak, South Plainfield has allowed just five runs.
Perth Amboy (3-7) has lost three straight.
South Amboy 1, Highland Park 0: The Governors snapped a scoreless deadlock in the top of the sixth to make a winning pitcher out of Nick Charmello, who hurled six shutout innings.
Stephen McLaughlin recorded the final three outs of the game for a save. Charmello threw 99 pitches to outduel counterpart Myles Herzog, who went the distance, striking out eight while allowing one earned run on five hits.
Diego Salazar, Declan Walsh and Rimervi Mendez each singled for Highland Park (3-4). The shutout was the second straight the Owls endured.
South Amboy (6-3) has won two if its last three, posting shutouts in each victory.
Middlesex 18, Carteret 4: Mark Geist belted his first career homer, while Raiden Yost went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI as the Blue Jays rolled to a mercy-rule victory.
Middlesex rallied for 11 runs in the third inning to build 14-0 lead. The Blue Jays pounded out 11 hits and benefited from 10 walks.
Jared Venutolo went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored. Michael Schweyher singled, scored twice and plated a run. Jarrett May went 1-for-2 with two runs. Ryan Vollmer singled and scored three times. Matt Venutolo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Winning pitcher Matt Holmes did not allow a run over three innings. He fanned one walked, surrendered one hit and did not walk a batter.
Gian Ortiz delivered two RBI for Carteret (5-8). Teammates Elijah Colon, Michael Gurzynski and Luiz Nunez each had a hit and scored a run.
Middlesex (9-2) extended its winning streak to four games.
