MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Georgia Military College released a statement Monday afternoon about a student who was hit and killed by a Georgia College bus in Milledgeville.
Georgia College and State University officials tell WGXA that Logan Jones, 21, was hit by the bus Monday morning while riding a bike on their campus at Hancock and Clarke Street.
GMC says Jones -- a GMC Junior College student -- attended the GMC Prep School and graduated from the John Milledge Academy. He then enrolled as a business major at the GMC Junior College.
"Logan was a bright light on our campus and will truly be missed," GMC's statement says. "The entire Georgia Military College family offers our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Logan Jones."
GMC says Jones had planned to transfer to Georgia College and State University upon earning his Associates Degree.
"For GMC students affected by the loss of Logan, grief counseling is available upon request through our faculty," the statement said.
Georgia College and State officials say grief counselors have been available since the incident happened. The university added it is also providing assistance with Georgia State Patrol's ongoing investigation.
WGXA has reached out to Georgia State Patrol for more information. Check back here for more details and updates.
