Colerain clinched at least a share of the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) title with a 55-27 win over Fairfield on a rainy Friday night at Cardinals Stadium.
With the win, the Cardinals improve to 9-0 (7-0 GMC) and have won 74-consecutive conference games. The Indians drop to 7-2 (6-1 GMC).
After leading 27-7 at halftime, the Cardinals allowed 14-unanswered points, including a 95-yard from Fairfield’s Jutahn McClain to make it 27-21.
After the Indians made it a one-possession game, Colerain outscored the visitors 28-6, eventually leading to a running clock.
Colerain finished with 553 total yards offensively, with 539 of them on the ground.
Deante Smith-Moore led the Cardinals in yards, finishing with 208 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Ivan Pace Jr had four touchdowns and 180 yards on 17 carries, while JJ Davis had seven carries for 109 yards and a score.

Defensively, the Cardinals allowed more points Friday than they had in any game previously this season, as McClain tallied 332 total yards.
The running back had 275 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 29 attempts and caught two receptions for 57 yards. The junior had 332 of Fairfield’s 405 total yards, and broke the school record for longest run (95 yards) and most touchdowns in a season (29) against Colerain.
With one game remaining in the regular season, Colerain plays at Lakota West next week, while Fairfield hosts Mason.
Colerain will host a first-round postseason game in two weeks.
