Name: GMC Charlie Brown
Sound: Born and raised on Detroit's west side, Brown is longtime a hip-hop artist who writes about the ups and downs of living in an economically-challenged area. He wants his music to be a positive influence on his neighborhood.
Next: GMC Charlie Brown will host the Grown Folks Event Saturday at Bullfrog Bar and Grill, 15414 Telegraph in Redford. Doors open at 9 p.m., cover is $10 and the evening includes performances by several hip-hop acts. He's back at the Bullfrog on Nov. 10 for the R&B and Hip-Hop Explosion event.
