After driving GMC's latest half-ton offering, Cars.com reviewer Aaron Bragman went in-depth to find out just what separates the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 from its Chevrolet Silverado 1500 sibling — also just redesigned for the 2019 model year.

There are some obvious differences, starting with the exterior. Where the Silverado 1500 has a wilder look that shares a lot with the redesigned Camaro, the Sierra 1500 is a bit more refined and understated. Which is "better" is entirely a matter of taste, but for his money, Bragman would take the Sierra.
Trick features are another highlight of the Sierra 1500. Among the nifty gadgets is a power-retractable step for easier cabin access. That's not exactly new technology, although it's always a classy touch. Where these steps differ is that a tap of the foot to the rearward end of the step extends the step and moves it back toward the bed, giving you access to the bed from the side of the truck — perfect for reaching anything that may be all the way toward the cab.
Another great feature is the MultiPro Tailgate, a multistage tailgate that can serve as an access step into the bed, a bed extender that can still prevent payloads from sliding out of the bed or a work surface.
Watch these features and more in action as Bragman shares his thoughts on the new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500.
