Gateway Buick GMC in Hazelwood files for bankruptcy

Gateway Buick GMC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. 

The Hazelwood car dealership lists liabilities of between $10 million and $50 million. The company has assets of between $50 million and $100 million, the bankruptcy filing said.

Officials with the dealership were not immediately available to comment. John Talbot Sant, Jr., with Affinity Law Group, is representing Gateway Buick GMC. He did not return a request for comment.

Gateway Buick GMC, owned by President Donald Davis and Automotive Investments LLC, listed creditors of up to 199, many of them from the St. Louis area. 

The dealership reported selling 1,365 vehicles last year, down from 1,674 in 2016 and 2,046 the year before that.

According to St. Louis County property records, the dealership owns its lot next to Interstate 270 at 820 James S. McDonnell Boulevard, which has an appraised value of $4.6 million.
