Prospect breakdown: Crown win fourth GMC crown

The Tristate does not lack for high school athletic talent. Here’s a look at some of the area’s top prospects and how they fared this week.*

4. Ryle sophomore guard Jaiden Douthit made history on Feb. 2 when she nailed nine 3-pointers in the Raiders’ 81-49 victory against Cooper. The nine triples are a new record for 3-pointers in one game by a Raider.

3. Taylor has consistently been one of the area’s top Division II boys bowling programs this season. The Yellow Jackets are led by senior Shawn Ward and his Cincinnati Hills League-best average of 200. Ward helped lead the Jackets to another victory this past week, recording a high series of 417 in Taylor’s 2615-1904 win against Hamilton on Feb. 1. He recorded games of 238 and 179.

2. Shroder has dominated the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference this season. The Jaguars are 8-0 in conference play and 13-4 overall. Most impressively the Jags’ success has been propelled by underclassmen. One of Shroder’s young talents is freshman guard Jariah McCrory. During Shroder’s 47-42 win against Woodward on Jan. 30 McCrory scored a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Her second double-double of the season.

1. Elizabeth Cron had a historic outing Feb. 2. The Oak Hills senior won her fourth-straight Greater Miami Conference diving crown. Not only did she win the event, she also set a new conference record with a score of 320 – breaking her own record of 314.45 from 2015. The win secured her spot as one of the GMC’s all-time great aquatic athletes. Next up for the University of Chicago commit is the postseason. She placed fifth in the state last season.
