    Summary: GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation ( GMC ) will initiate a survey among citybased schools, educational institutions and government offices to assess cleanliness across the city. "We have been taking several initiatives to make Guwahati the cleanest city," GMC commissioner Monalisa Goswami said. The programme — Swachh Sarvekshan 2018 — was launched here on Thursday.Popular actor Kapil Bora was introduced as the brand ambassador for the programme in the city. "Every Tuesday and Friday is set aside to segregate dry waste and wet waste. For this, 58 organizations have been roped in and allotted different work," he added.The survey also intends to foster a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens, towards creating cleaner cities.

    According to the Newspaper,The Swachh Sarvekshan is being conducted by the Centre under the Swachh Bharat Mission (urban) to encourage cities to improve sanitation.The programme aims at encouraging citizens to to participate on a largescale in the cleanliness drive and creating awareness among all sections of the society about working together to make towns and cities cleaner. "We have been taking several initiatives to make Guwahati the cleanest city," GMC commissioner Monalisa Goswami said. She also spoke about the Swachhata app, with the help of which citizens can register their complaints, following which authorities will immediately look into it within a specified time frame.Goswami added that the Google toilet locator is also going to be of great help.The GMC will also conduct a city-based survey to identify the cleanest school, hotel, hotel, hospital, market association and resident welfare association in the city.Mayor Mrigen Sarania said waste management is an important part of ensuring urban sanitation.
