After its initial reveal in Vail, Colorado, GMC displayed the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Mountain concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The All Mountain concept is a truck built for snow-climbing, thanks to the use of tracks like those you would find on a tank.
Based on a GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali 4WD Crew Cab, the All Mountain concept makes 445-horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque from a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 engine and takes advantage of the Denali’s upscale interior. The standard wheel-and-tire package has been replaced with a concept track setup created with Mattracks, a company that has been doing track conversions for over 20 years.

Racks and accessories galore
In addition to the Mattracks 150 Series tracks, the All Mountain also has Thule snowboard racks and accessories, a RIGID E-Series 30-inch light bar, underbody and wheel-well LED lights, and an Advantage soft roll-up tonneau cover. Kicker added an amplifier and dual-pod speaker kit to the interior.
Carl Zipfel, GMC exterior designer, explains, “With GMC’s focus on premium capability and design, we wanted to ensure that this concept took these signature attributes to an entirely new level. The Sierra All Mountain concept’s Mattracks technology enables the truck to conquer uncharted territory while highlighting premium interior features such as Bose speakers and upscale leather treatments.”
While the original concept is on display at Vail for the winter season as part of a partnership between GMC and the ski resort, GMC has a similar concept truck built on a Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X on display at the L.A. Auto Show.
